Actions workflow in Stride

Use this guide to run the full action lifecycle from board setup to completion and clean-up. It aligns with the Kanban workspace and overview metrics in Stride.

1. Create boards, columns, and action cards

Create
  • Create an action board for each team, committee, or recurring workstream.
  • Add columns that match your real delivery flow (for example Backlog, In progress, Done).
  • Use quick add to capture cards quickly, then enrich details in Edit card.
  • Assign owner, due date, priority, and reminder cadence early for accountability.

2. Review workload and priorities

Read
  • Use the overview to monitor open, overdue, and unassigned actions.
  • Open board-level Kanban views to inspect bottlenecks by column.
  • Apply filters for assignee, open/completed/overdue state, and search terms.
  • Use card history when you need to understand who changed what and when.

3. Update status and ownership as work evolves

Update
  • Drag cards between columns to reflect progress in real time.
  • Edit card details to update due date, owner, priority, and reminders.
  • Use bulk edit to update many cards at once when plans change.
  • Rename columns when teams change process language or stage definitions.

4. Archive obsolete structure safely

Archive
  • Archive columns that are no longer needed instead of leaving stale lanes visible.
  • Keep board structure focused so teams can scan priorities without noise.
  • Before archiving, move any active cards to a valid destination column.

Action management checklist

  • Keep column count low so card movement remains obvious and fast.
  • Avoid unassigned cards for high-priority work.
  • Use due dates and reminders together to reduce silent slippage.
  • Review overdue cards weekly and either close, re-scope, or reassign.
