Use transcripts to draft cleaner board minutes

This guide explains when to use automatic transcription versus manual transcript uploads, how both paths feed the same AI minutes workflow, and what teams can do to get better draft quality before approvals. Stride supports transcription plugins and can expand to additional providers over time.

What transcripts do in Stride

A meeting transcript gives Stride the full discussion context for AI-assisted minutes drafting. After a transcript is ready, Stride maps the discussion to agenda items and drafts speaker-attributed minutes for review before approval.

Manual transcript uploads

  • Upload a transcript after a meeting has been held if your team recorded the meeting elsewhere or already has a transcript file.
  • Stride accepts VTT, SRT, TXT, and JSON transcript files up to 5 MB.
  • Use manual upload when a meeting should not use a live bot, or when you need to bring in a transcript from another workflow.
  • Once processing finishes, draft minutes from the transcript inside the normal meeting workspace.

Automatic transcription with plugins

  • Connect a transcription plugin in Settings -> Plugins once for the organization.
  • Generate the meeting video link before the meeting, then enable Record & transcribe for that specific meeting.
  • Stride registers the transcription bot only for meetings where your team explicitly turns it on, regardless of which supported transcription plugin your organization uses.
  • After the meeting ends, the transcript is delivered back to Stride and becomes available for AI minutes drafting.

Tips for better transcript-based minutes

  • Set clear agenda items and realistic durations before the meeting so transcript segments map cleanly.
  • Confirm the video link is in place before enabling automatic transcription.
  • Prefer manual upload when your team already has a compliant recording workflow or does not want a live bot in the meeting.
  • Review drafted minutes before submission, especially for names, decisions, and follow-up owners.
  • Use the same transcript workflow for board and executive meetings to keep operating habits consistent.

Recommended operating pattern

  • Use automatic transcription with a supported transcription plugin for recurring meetings where you want less manual follow-up after the session.
  • Use manual upload for exceptions, backfilled meetings, or teams with stricter meeting-room policies.
  • Read the agenda workflow
